The new 50-State Hemp Law Checker reviews 450 individual state-and-cannabinoid combinations — all 50 states across nine cannabinoid categories — and translates state rules into plain-English guidance for consumers. The categories include CBD isolate, broad-spectrum CBD, full-spectrum CBD, THCA, Delta-8 THC, Delta-10 THC, Delta-11 THC, HHC and hemp-derived Delta-9 THC.
Rather than relying on broad claims that a cannabinoid is simply “legal” or “illegal” nationwide, the checker accounts for state-level issues that can affect whether a particular product may be sold or shipped, including product form, THC content and potency, lab testing and Certificates of Analysis (COAs), labeling, age restrictions, licensing or registration requirements and sales-channel rules.
“Consumers have been told for years that hemp is either ‘legal’ or ‘illegal,’ but the reality is much more complicated than that,” said Toby Streett, founder of Cbdeeme. “The question people actually want answered is much simpler: ‘Can I buy this product and have it shipped to me where I live?’ We built the checker to help answer that question without making people decode statutes, agency rules and lab terminology on their own.”
Each result links consumers directly to the official state sources used in the review, including statutes, regulations, agency guidance, official product registries and attorney-general materials. The current version was reviewed Sept. 4, 2026, and incorporates the federal update reflected in H.R. 6500, signed into law Sept. 2, 2026.
The checker separates results into three consumer-friendly outcomes: products that are not currently available for direct shipment, products that may be available when state-specific requirements are met, and categories where availability depends on the exact product.
That distinction is important because a restriction on online shipment does not necessarily mean a cannabinoid is prohibited for every purpose within a state.
“A red result does not automatically mean a product is illegal to possess, and a green result does not mean every product with that cannabinoid automatically qualifies,” Streett said. “The form of the product, its THC level, its COA and the state’s own rules can all change the answer. We wanted consumers to see that nuance without forcing them to choose between an oversimplified map and a 50-state legal guide that’s too complicated to use.”
